Spring Session Update 2021 - Important Dates

Dear parents and students
What a fantastic year it has been for music lessons.  
Despite lock downs and Zoom I am completely impressed with the progress that everyone has made and how much has been learned by all of us. We definitely have learned skills we would have never thought of without Covid. I am encouraged by the resilience I have seen from everyone. We can adapt and continue as we have found out.
Everyone has been working hard on their chosen instruments whether it is for competitions or for their own enjoyment. I have spent the last 2 weeks recording more than 50 festival and audition entries.  It speaks to the adaptability of those who are either competing or applying to universities and colleges.  Music will survive and thrive.  
Thank you to all my Vernon students who have completed their festival recordings for the Shuswap Festival this past Monday.  You all rocked. :)
Here are some important dates for the spring session please mark them in your calendar as there are a few days in April and May when I am not teaching as per below.  I am trying to add all important dates in this one email to keep the email traffic down.  :)

1. Regular Lessons restart Monday March 29, 2021 as per schedule
   
   
2. Easter Weekend:  
   No regular lessons are scheduled for April 2 to April 5, 2021 as it is a school holiday. Some of you have already made arrangements to have a lessons with me. If you would like to book a lesson on those 4 days, please let me know as soon as possible.
    
3. Williams Lake Vocal Festival:  April 10 to 13. No regular lessons on those days as I am accompanying my students live for recording in Williams Lake. Everyone should have received their festival schedule by now.
   April 10 and 12: For all Williams Lake festival participants, I am working on 30 min sessions for a dress rehearsal practice on April 10 and 11 in Williams Lake. Please pencil that into your calendar. I will send a sign up email shortly.
   
   
4. Williams Lake Piano Festival:  April 22. I will not be in Williams Lake for this part of the festival as I can not be in the venue to even watch. Again, you should have received your festival schedule by now.
   
   
5. May Long Weekend:  May 22 - 24: No regular lessons on the Monday as it is a Statutory Holiday.
   
   
6. Last day of lessons for the Spring Session is June 25.
   
   
7. Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival: Video uploads for this festival are accepted from May 1 to 15 only this year. If you are chosen to represent either Shuswap or Cariboo Festivals for this competition we will decide on what day we will record the performance for this upload.
   
   
8. Summer Sessions from July 1 to August 31 will be available on request.  I will send out an email in June for sign up.

Having said all of this, I am really looking forward to the spring sessions and also to all the feed back we will receive through the festivals.  I am excited to start working with the new students who are joining the studio after spring break.  
For all my Williams Lake students, I am planning to continue next year with the same set up as 2020/2021.  I am continuing teaching online with regular in-person trips to Williams Lake throughout the year. 
Sign-up for next year's lessons will happen in May and June.

Spring is always exciting in a teaching studio

Everyone is busy with preparations for Festivals, Auditions and Exams.

Students are participating in the Cariboo Festival and the Shushwap Festival this year.

Multiple students are preparing for Spring Exams and one courageous Tenor is auditioning for UVIC and Camosun to study classical voice.

I couldn't be prouder of my students.  

Covid sure hasn't stopped any of you, online, virtual or in-peron. 

Let's keep the music going.
